1st Semester

Language Arts 1A & 1B

• Learn to read simple books and stories with fluency and expression.
• Practice sounding out new words using phonics and word families.
• Write complete sentences with capital letters and punctuation.
• Build basic grammar skills, like using nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
• Begin to write short stories and opinion pieces using pictures and words.

Math 1A & 1B

• Add and subtract numbers up to 20, and later up to 100.
• Understand number patterns, counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.
• Compare numbers using greater than, less than, or equal to.
• Learn about shapes, time, money, and simple measurement.
• Solve word problems using pictures and number sentences.

Science 1A

• Ask questions and explore the world around us like little scientists.
• Learn about plants, animals, and their habitats.
• Explore the weather and seasons, and how they change.
• Understand the basics of materials and matter (solids, liquids).

Technology 1

• Practice using a computer or tablet with guidance.
• Learn how to click, drag, type simple words, and use educational programs.
• Talk about how to stay safe online and use technology kindly.
• Explore early logic and thinking games to build problem-solving skills.

2nd Semester

Science 1B

• Learn about light, sound, and how things move.
• Try simple experiments to see how pushes and pulls work.
• Explore how people build and create using tools and ideas.

Social Studies 1A & 1B

• Learn about family, school, and community rules.
• Discover holidays and traditions from different cultures.
• Use maps and globes to talk about where we live and places around the world.
• Understand what it means to be a good friend and helpful citizen.

Health 1A & 1B

• Talk about how to keep our bodies clean and healthy.
• Learn the importance of eating well, exercising, and sleeping.
• Practice naming and talking about feelings in a safe way.
• Learn how to stay safe at home, at school, and online.

Art 1

• Use crayons, paint, scissors, and glue to create colorful art.
• Explore lines, shapes, and colors in fun ways.
• Learn about art from different cultures and times.
• Show how we feel and think by making our own artwork.
